If you need help, you can anonymously contact a women’s shelter or you can ask your municipality, doctor, friends or family for help in contacting a shelter. Shelters offer temporary residence in case you are unable to reside in your own home due to violence or threats of violence. You can also find the address of your local shelter by calling LOKK’s 24-hour-a-day hotline on 70 20 30 82.
The shelter can offer you and your children temporary residence, counseling and a community of others who find themselves in the same situation. You are able to remain anonymous while staying at the shelter. There are no services for specific treatments, but shelters employ staff for its residents to talk to. It is important for all parties that you yourself decide on what to do after your stay at the shelter and that you get the necessary help and support to achieve this.

Shelters require that all residents are self-sufficient with regards to managing their own daily lives and activities such as grocery shopping, cooking, laundry, childcare and interacting with other residents.
In most cases a small fee is required for residence at a shelter. The shelter arranges contact to the municipality about residence and payment.
The shelters provide necessary interpreter services to deaf children or children speaking foreign languages.
